Traveling Safely with the Bike Trailer
Safety is the top priority for all activities with your child. It is therefore important to observe a few safety precautions when using a bike trailer. Before you attach the trailer, your bike must also be in perfect condition: check the brakes, fit mudguards, and rear-view mirrors. It doesn't really matter which bike you use. You can use a city bike, mountain bike, or even an e-bike. Please note: bike trailers may only be attached to e-bikes with a maximum permitted speed of 25 km/h. Models with a higher speed may not be used as towing bikes.
If your bike is roadworthy, the next step is to check the coupling to the trailer. The appropriate coupling is already included with our models. Wearing a bicycle helmet is essential for a safe ride. Both cyclists and children should wear a suitable helmet. It is also important to buckle children in. The five-point harness ensures a secure hold and must also be used for short journeys.
Reflectors and reflective strips also increase safety in road traffic. For even greater visibility, we also recommend wearing a fluorescent waistcoat and fitting rear lights to the bike trailer in poor light conditions. If you are also using the trailer for shopping or luggage, make sure you do not exceed the maximum load capacity of the model.
